Maths personal statement checklist

Go through this before you submit your UCAS personal statement for maths. Tick each line only when it is true of your draft. Ticks are kept in this browser only, so you can come back to it; nothing is sent anywhere.

Content

• Each answer says something specific about maths, not only how much I like it.
• Every book, course or activity I mention comes with what I did or learnt.
• I have not repeated the same example in two answers.
• Question 2 explains what my studies taught me, not my subjects and grades.
• If my course is a joint degree, I have given a reason for both parts.
• I can talk for five minutes about anything I have mentioned.

Format

• Each answer has at least 350 characters.
• The three answers together are within 4,000 characters, including spaces.
• I have not named any one university.
• I checked the length in UCAS's own form, not only in my word processor.

Style

• No quotations or clichés at the start.
• Short paragraphs, plain sentences, British or consistent spelling.
• Read aloud once: it sounds like me.
• Someone I trust has read it and told me what was unclear.

Honesty

• Every word and idea is my own. Nobody else (and no AI tool) wrote or rewrote it.
• Everything I say I did, I did.
